Vendor Biography

I became interested in trapping when our family had a beaver causing damage on our farm. Despite our best attempts to mitigate the damage we ended up having to remove the beaver. The gentleman we had in was in his late 70’s and was representative of the age of trappers in our area.

I looked into the training requirements and tools used and was surprised to find out how humane the practice was compared to what I had thought.

All trapping in Ontario is heavily regulated and requires a 40 hour course, with a written and practical test at the end. All traps used have to be certified under the Agreement on international humane trapping standards.

After getting my licence I quickly became involved in Animal Damage control activity’s. Animals taken during this process, especially during the winter months have beautiful fur.

What we try to do is utilize all of the animal that needed to be removed. From the fur, meat and bones.
